HD 80: Playing Catch Up Part One

Let’s not lose sight of what Eve Online is – a massive, evolving game where time spent engaged is measured in years. For some, the streak of continuous play time exceeds a decade, while others, not so much. This episode is for those – like me – that take frequent sabbaticals from New Eden and often feel lost when we attempt a triumphant return. The User Interface changes, ship fittings that once worked are suddenly broken, and the meta game shifts are unrecognizable. Even further, the people in a familiar corporation have moved on, and those POCOs that were a reliable source of passive income are suddenly taxation hell. In episode 80, we work through the mire of change and make the transition back into game a little less complex. Welcome back to Eve, and welcome back to the High Drag Eve Online Podcast!

In this episode, we discuss:

The Health of the Game
The Highsec Meta
The Lowsec Meta
Changes over the last year
CCP/Community Interaction
Dao of Zao – 500 MN Proteus (that’s right)

HD 79: Eve Vegas Megasode

Eve Vegas Megasode
Hey there High Drag listeners! We have returned from Eve Vegas and drop this behemoth of an episode on you!! Ok ok, it’s more like a puffed up version but we had a full house this time around. Our discussion centers on the Eve Vegas experience and what we pulled away from it, in the event that you haven’t watched or listened to ANYTHING about it since. I will say that I really enjoyed this Vegas. I liked the Linq hotel more than Planet Hollywood. I loved Drai’s nightclub over the Parisian. And, I loved that this Vegas it felt like they gave us something rather than just repeating the dev blogs. Now, if anyone happens to find my voice, would you be so kind as to send it to me, please? Be sure to listen to the very end to hear Rahne and Kyle’s “bailing early” shout outs!!

Hope you enjoy!!

HD 78: Lifeblood Judgement

Lifeblood Judgement

Hey there, High Drag Listeners!

Gotta say, I had the best intentions of having this out a while ago. Down side was, I had this little accident. For those who follow me on Twitter, you say pics of my beloved 4 Runner after having been tail ended at freeway speed when I was stopped in traffic. Spent a few hours in the emergency room and have been dealing with a fair amount of discomfort but I’m doing much better. However, being down a vehicle has made my life a bit more complicated. However, I have a replacement. I am doing pretty well. Next stop, Vegas!

We recorded this after that little CO2 coup performed by the Judge. He was meant to come on the show (and we’d still love to have you on, mate!) but Aussie time zones being what they are, he wasn’t able to make it. Fin is also noticeably absent as well. So, with skeleton crew, Ash, Fishbone and I muddle through the plasma and platelets of Lifeblood, the October expansion! We touch upon Resource Wars, CCP Karkur’s Little things and finally do a brief discussion of the coup of CO2. Goonswarm making things greener in EVE…(by cutting CO2)!

Hope you enjoy!

HD 77: From The Ash

From The Ash

Hey Listeners!

Episode 77 brings a fair bit of discussion lead by Ashterothi! We discuss the Agency, the state of Factional Warfare, the Yokai corporation and alliance tournament and we’re joined by a few great voices. Apothne joins us as he wraps up his commentating from EVE-NT, Greygal jumps in with an update from the Yokai situation and some of us regular grunts. Fin shows charity with an alpha in the Yin with a Tormentor fit that helps out one of his poor victims.

Hope you enjoy!

HD 76 Well, Back In My Day

Well, Back In My Day

Hey High Drag listeners! Episode 76 was an excellent discussion! We were Ash-less this time around but at the last minute, we were joined by Elise Randolph and Jin’taan to compare and contrast the original Summer of Rage (Post Incarna) and the current Summer of Mild Discontent. Honestly, it started feeling alike a room full of old guys chatting about the “good ol days”. It was so much fun! In the second segment, we discuss another topic that’s near and dear to my heart, Alliance Tournament. With Elise and Jin’taan doing commentating the upcoming tourney, I felt that tapping their unique perspective would make for AT enlightenment. Fin’s Yin covers the low sec non-bubbling flycatcher.

And I think the audio turned out much better on this episode.

Hold all the hate mail. 😉

HD 75 Just Not In The Karrdes

Just Not In The Karrdes
Hey High Drag listeners! This episode was a tough one for me to finally stamp approval on. We were joined by the famous (or infamous) Aleksyev Karrde of EVE mercenary fame. Aleks has been running the Declarations of War podcast for longer than we’ve been around and a fully bloodied and vetted podcaster. How he got the audio quality he did…

Suffice it to say, the audio quality on this episode was much poorer than I usually like. We’ll beg your forgiveness, but the conversation was excellent. Please dont beat us up too much…

I would like to give a special shout out to Push Industries (in game) for blazing fast delivery of Random’s gear to his new home! Thanks so very much!

HD 74: A Chat With CCP Larrikin

HD 74: A Chat With CCP Larrikin

It took a bit of work, but we finally scheduled time to chat with CCP Larrikin and we grilled him! This special segment was originally meant to be attached to episode 73, but that would have made a very…very…long episode. Instead, we made this a stand alone mini-episode and Ashterothi and I had a chance to talk about AI’s, Missions and all the (non) sexy things that Larrikin’s group work on.
